Presentation of the Charter
Under the patronage of Xavier Bertrand, former French Minister of Labour, Social & Family Affairs and Solidarity, and Nadine Morano, the French Secretary of State for Family Affairs, the Corporate Parenthood Charter was unveiled on April 11th 2008 . The objective of the Charter is to incite companies to provide working parents with an environment that is better suited to people with family commitments. This Charter has already been signed by over 150 Family Friendly Firms and associations.
Towards a better balance between professional and family life
The Corporate Parenthood Charter has 3 objectives:
- to bring about change in attitudes to parenthood within companies,
- to create an environment that is favourable to working parents, especially expectant mothers,
- to respect the principle of non-discrimination in the professional development of employees with children.
According to the Corporate Parenthood Observatory Barometer, three working parents out of four consider that their companies are not involved enough in favouring parenthood and in finding a better balance between professional and personal lives.
We are pleaser to announce the Corporate Parenthood Observatory was launched on Novembre 20th, 2008 by Jérôme Ballarin, President of the Observatory in partnership with former French Minister of Labour, Social and Family Affairs and Solidarity, Xavier Bertrand and Secretary of State for Family Affairs, Nadine Morano.
The engagement of the French Government in partnership with the Observatory reflects the desire to promote actions aimed at facilitating the balance between professional and family life.
The Family Friendly Firms best policies demonstrate that changes in attitudes and management policies can be easily and successfully implemented.
